Thank you for taking the time to look at Cedarburg Music! My name is Matthew Bugenhagen, and I'm the proprietor of the finest guitar and drum lesson studio in Ozaukee County. I'm quite confident you've found the best choice for your son or daughter (or even yourself!) to learn these instruments.

After graduating from UW-LaCrosse in 1993, I spent the next 4 years recording and touring with various acts throughout the U.S. I even assembled a few drumming credits for Warner Bros Records during that time, plus notable live performances which include opening for Jimmy Buffet at Chicago's House of Blues and about a half dozen Summerfest appearances.

In 1998 I decided to add teaching drums to my professional repertoire at the urging of one of my former instructors. This proved to be an extremely successful venture for me, and I've been teaching full-time ever since. It was at this time that I expanded my guitar studies in earnest with local guitar virtuoso Peter Mac of the Buck's Jazz Band for the next two and a half years.

In 2002 I moved to Cedarburg and never looked back. I love the area and the people here in Mequon, Thiensville, Port Washington, Cedarburg, and Grafton. People have been very supportive of me as well. I basically taught at every local music store until those stores decided to move or close shop. I started Cedarburg Music in early 2007 after one such closing. Having just purchased a home only 3 months earlier, my initial dismay turned into optimism when I realized I could offer so much more from my home studio than any school program or store would be able to. With a roster of 40-plus students, I set out to offer guitar and drum lessons unparalleled anywhere else. Word of mouth has kept me busy, and been my main source of advertising so far. My philosophy is simple:

"Give students my very best at every lesson because that knowledge will last a lifetime." To play music is the best gift I could ever give anybody. It's what I love to do!
